Here is what we will be learning in 3rd grade this week. Reading/ELA: - answering questions in complete sentences using the RAP Strategy - locating answers within a text using fiction and nonfiction passages - Teachers will use the book Thank you, Mr. Falker to teach reading skills - Vocabulary skills - nouns Writing: - We will all be using the Units of Study program to continue writing personal narratives (will continue throughout the nine weeks) Math: - addition and subtraction - beginning multiplication Social Studies/Science: - Rocks research in the media center - Finishing up Soil

Reading: - answering questions in complete sentences using the RAP Strategy - Teachers will teach skills using the book Rain School - continue learning and practicing reading resources and rounds (ReadTheory, IXL, Daily 5 rounds) ELA: - Plural Nouns - writing in complete sentences Writing: - We will all be using the Units of Study program to begin writing personal narratives Math: - addition and subtraction - word problems Science: - rocks and minerals - STEM walk Ms. Bernier will be your child’s school counselor this year. She will conduct lessons in all third-grade classrooms every two to three weeks. She has been in the process of meeting students new to Davis in small group sessions in order to welcome and ease the transition to a new school. Please take the time to complete the following survey. It should only take 5-10 minutes of your time and will help the counselors identify the greatest needs at Davis. This meeting is for teachers to share important classroom information and is for parents/adults only. 3-5 Open House, Thursday, August 8 6 PM Cafeteria-Welcome/PTA/Teacher introductions Session 1- presentation in the classroom by the teacher Session 2*- presentation in the classroom by the teacher *a repeat session is offered for those with more than one child in 3-5 Please see the attached PPT for information from Curriculum Night. We will meet Thursday beginning at 6:00 pm to present the information.
