Here is an overview of what we will be learning in 3rd grade this week.
Upcoming dates to be aware of: 2-6-20 - Variety Show at Mabry 2-7-20 - Explorers Vocabulary 2-10-20 - Book Wheel Book Report Due 2-14-20 - Valentine's Day (Bring in a decorated box and valentines on Friday to share with the class - optional) Reading/ELA: - Book Report: Please make sure your child is continuing to work on their Book Report. They may use their book report book for their 20 minutes of reading. - All classes are excited about our Peter Pan unit. We will be writing opinion writings on the different characters in Peter Pan. - cursive writing - figurative language - subordinating and coordinating conjunctions Writing: - Students will continue persuasive writing using the Units of Study program Math: - Measuring with a ruler to make a line plot - fractions - 2 step word problems using all 4 operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) Social Studies/Science: - We will continue our unit on early explorers. - Study for your explorers vocabulary test on Friday

They may use their book report book for their 20 minutes of reading. - All classes are excited about our Peter Pan unit. We will be looking in depth into characters, setting, and plot development. All classes will be taking a mid unit assessment on Peter Pan this week. - cursive writing - compare and contrast Writing: - Students will continue persuasive writing using the Units of Study program Math: - multiplication fact fluency - equivalent fractions - 2 step word problems using all 4 operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) Social Studies/Science: - We will be having an inhouse field trip this week to kick off out unit on Explorers. Order Forms due by Wednesday 1-13-20 - Book Approval for Book Report 1-20-20 - No School Reading/ELA: - We will begin a new book report this week. Students should pick a chapter book to read. They need to have the book approved by their teacher by 1-13-20. If students do not bring in a book for approval, a book will be assigned by their teacher. - We will begin our new unit on Peter Pan.
